Reverse Trap cannot be activated during the Damage Step.

Instead of just dishing out the full answer to you, I'm going to leave you with that. If you can figure out what happens, great! If you can't figure it out, then don't worry. I or someone else will post the full answer.

Can you figure it out? :)

lol, basically from what i know you can activate Reverse Trap before the damage step and if they would use Honest they would just lose Attack Power. i think thats correct lol

I'd be glad to dish out the entire explanation, but that would incur the wrath of a kitty.

As judges, we do carry some responsibility of explaining certain gameplay mechanics, "why x works against y," or "what happens when a interacts with b." However, we want the players to strive to become better duelists. The majority of gameplay mechanics/card rulings questions can easily be solved by looking up various sources online. Even moreso, a lot of questions are easily answered by reading the text on the card(s) in question. If you're asking questions here, it is usually implied that you have an Internet connection available. As I mentioned earlier, there are a lot of resources online to look up information (oh heck, google for the end-all inquiries).

Don't take this the wrong way, though. I'll point you in the right direction for your answer. Anthony already mentioned that Reverse Trap cannot be activated in the Damage Step.

Read up on the text of Reverse Trap, and browse through the rulings for the card.
Read up on the text of Honest.
Put two and two together and you should have your answer. =D

Youcan still run reverse trap just chain damage step cause most of the time with honest or kalut they will say damgae calculation, but just say damage step chain and if the activate it then the y lose attack if not they run into you and :P lol

I'll make it a little easier for you guys.

Reverse Trap: All increases and decreases to ATK and DEF are reversed for the turn in which this card is activated.

Honest: During your Main Phase, you can return this card from the field to it's owner's hand. During either player's Damage Step, when a face-up LIGHT monster you control battles, you can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard to have that monster gain ATK equal to the ATK of the opponent's monster it is battling, until the End Phase.

@ Kenny:
Again, Reverse Trap cannot be activated during the damage step. This is because Reverse Trap itself does not directly affect the attack or defense of a monster.

I'm running low on fish to hand out so I want to make the handouts good. However, I don't mind teaching people how to fish...

... Hopefully you get that line.

"http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Card_Rulings:Reverse_Trap" targe...

TCG Rulings

If a card gives a monster +100 ATK, and "Reverse Trap" is activated, that monster now has -100 ATK instead. This card only affects increases and decreases of a defined value, such as +200 (which becomes -200) or -500 (which becomes +500). It does not change cards which "double", "half", or "reduce to 0" the ATK or DEF of a monster.

You cannot activate this card during the Damage Step. This card affects monsters, Spell Cards, and Trap Cards controlled by both players.

Additional "Reverse Traps" activated in the same turn will have no effect. So "Reverse Trap" will change "Axe of Despair"’s effect of adding 1000 ATK to subtracting 1000 ATK. If a second "Reverse Trap" is activated, the equipped monster still has -1000 ATK.

but i think the real question here is "does reverse trap work against honest?"

Combine the text of Honest and what you now know about how Reverse Trap works, and the answer should logically appear. =D

NO REVERSE TRAP DOESNT WORK AGAINST HONEST.

honest isnt a set value.

for cryin out loud guys, this is why people lose. not being able to think.

Actually, Honest is a set value. The value is set on resolution.

The short and sweet answer is:
If you activate Reverse Trap anytime during the turn before the Damage Step, Honest, Kalut, and any other effect that adds to a monster's attack will become subtraction.

The long answer:
Reverse Trap cannot be activated during the Damage Step so you cannot chain it to Honest/Kalut. However, you may activate it anytime before the Damage Step as a preventative measure. If your opponent happens to not know how they interact and choose to activate Honest, Kalut, etc. they in turn reduce the attack of their monster.

I may have to interject here. Reverse Trap only works against set values as printed on the text of the card that gives/subtracts ATK.

Axe of Despair: Equipped monster gains 1000 ATK. It is a set value as printed on the card, so under Reverse Trap the equipped monster will lose 1000 ATK.

Megamorph: Depending on the LP, it may half or double the equipped monster's ATK. The value of the gain/loss isn't a defined numerical value, so Reverse Trap would no effect.

The deal with Honest is that the ATK gain from it's effect is NOT a defined numerical value (as printed on the card). However, Kalut does have a defined numerical value as to the ATK gain given from it's effect.
