Tips to make sure this upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! Regionals goes smoothly.

With Yu-Gi-Oh! Regionals just around the corner, and especially with the new COSSY system being implemented.  Here are a few tips for players to ensure that the registration process goes smoothly.

  • Register early.  Registration is open now on our website.  Please make sure you're logged in so that your price is properly adjusted to $20.  If you are a new player, feel free to make your account, and make the order.
You can pay in-store at any time during normal hours of operation.  We
unfortunately are unable to register new player ID cards yet.
  • Come early on the day of the event.  We usually open the doors an hour before the event is scheduled to start.  We may open earlier due to the new system and the need to have everyone registered.
  • Have your decklist ready BEFORE you come to the event.  We may need players to move around, come to a registration computer, etc.  This may prevent you from filling out your decklist on the day of the event.
  • Do not bring too many cards/personal belongings.  As with any tournament, you'll be moving around a lot when you are not playing a match.  Also, your belongings may take too much space during a round, or could get
lost/stolen.  Please bring ONLY what you need.  We will NOT allow any
sales between players and/or spectators.  You may only trade cards for
    cards.
  • If we announce that we are ready to register players for their new player ID cards, please come in before the day of the event to register for your new card.  This will reduce the number of players we need to register on the day of the
    event.

Other things you can do to help this event go smoothly is come prepared with the appropriate items.

  • Pencil/Pen and paper. We only have a limited supply
  • Extra sleeves just in case.
  • Deck box to keep your cards together

I really have to emphasize about registering the ID cards. If at all possible, do so BEFORE the day of the event to get the ID cards registered. Sure, it may take a minute or two to get the ID in the system, hand you the card and barcode stickers (DO NOT EVER LOSE YOUR BARCODES. You will NOT get a replacement for them), but when 40+ people are trying to get their IDs, the time can add up.

This is a very important point. Consider it takes on average maybe 5 minutes to really register for the card, and we have 50 players (less than our average from the previous regionals), and we have about 5 computers available to register people with, that's 50 minutes NOT including the fact that people registering for their tournament cards will be using the computers to register and pay for the tournament. Again, the earlier you can come, and/or the more prepared you can come, the better.

Again, we'll make sure to announce once we're ready to take registration for the tournament cards.

I had photos of the ID card in my Boston blog. >_>

Anways, KDE is using a system for their YGO OP program, called COSSY. Here what the ID cards look like:

You can register for a KDE ID card on the day of regionals, but I can't stress enough how much more smoothly (and faster) things will run if you register for a KDE ID before the day of regionals. It will definitely make things easier (and less stressful) for da-planet staff. Trust me, I have a good idea of the length of the process of registering and receiving a KDE ID/card. I don't think many players would be happy if 20 or so players showed up like 5 minutes before signups close and don't have a KDE ID registered, therefore delaying the start of the event for lord knows how long.

And regionals is on June 20. The events calendar is your friend. =P
