can you chain a normal trap card to another trap card, since they are both speed spell 2, i dont think you can chain unless its a counter trap card

yes you can chain a normal trap or a quick play spell card to another normal trap as they are both spell speed 2. But if a counter trap is chained then only counter traps can be chained on that chain.

you chain as many speed spell two's as you like there isn't a limit.

You can chain as many spell speed 2 cards as possible, as long as the timing is correct. You obviously can't chain Mirror Force to a Bottomless Trap Hole, right?

If a spell speed 3 card (in essentially all cases, a counter trap) is activated as response to a spell speed 2 card/effect in the chain, only spell speed 3 cards can be activated in response until the chain fully resolves.
