Bad News - No Yu-Gi-Oh Regionals for 2009 Winter Season for Hawaii

We just got news that our application to host a Yu-Gi-Oh Regionals for this 2009 season for Hawaii was denied. The reason for this was due to budget issues at Konami Organized Play. Evidently they have used up their allocation due to the boom of Yu-Gi-Oh in the United States and the bigger venues in the Mainland. We have a slot for the 2010 Spring Season so you will have to wait until then.

This was unfortunate but unavoidable. Hopefully this is a wake-up call for all of us that we need to support Official Konami Organized Play and get out in force to show the rest of the US that we have the numbers.

its like many things in business it is about numbers. limited money goes to the more populous areas first.

we had over 50 for a hobby league on thursday which was not sanctioned. i know many of you don't like the fact that you have to show up on time for the sanctioned events as the software won't allow you to enter later, but pleasa remember Konami is a Japanese company and it is a cultural difference where coming on time is important.

we are trying to give the players multiple events to play in that are sanctioned. hopefully people will attend the new leagues.
