Unfortunately, I can't comment on the judge cetrification. Also I forgot to mention another Big Islander who made the flight over, Elliot Warkus. I'd watch out for him at the next PTQ!

Nicely done, Matty. By the way... was there a David Toops sighting?!

Man, all eight players drawing into the top 8 might be the lamest ever. It's unfortunate when the pairings work out like that, but can't really be helped I guess. Pretty tough beat for everyone else though.

Glad to hear the event ran smoothly. Any new judges get certified after the event? I sure hope so.

Grats on the win, Jeff. Maybe I'll see you there.

(Hey, on the topic of land-flood and land-screw, would you believe there're card games out there that don't have those problems? Juuuuuuuust sayin'.)

I have to say preparing for the event does help as I noticed that majority of the top 8 and almost all the 4-2's had played at the sealed the earlier saturday and 5 of the 8 people I drafted with on Thursday made tenth or better (jeff lee, andrew graham, analynn bustamante, tim thomason and myself) just playing a limited event for zendikar helped as you gain valuable information on strong cards/colors, etc. Although bad days do happen.

Btw jeff another Emeria land today in my sealed pool making for 3 pools in a row along with opening it in my past 2 drafts

PTQ San Diego = Great Time. That pretty much sums it up lol.
Jeff Comment by Jeff on October 18, 2009 at 12:59pm
yeah, i used to care about winning and my rating and whatnot, but now i really play just to have fun. even when i don't feel like playing, i go to fnms and events just to hang out with friends. with hawaii having the small group of regular mtg players that it does, pretty much everyone is friends with each other, it's great.

slops to james for drinking questionable substances at lions friday night
