The day has finally come where some lucky duelist will win a Gold Sarcophagus. People were sleeping on the asphalt of our parking lot awaiting the last big Yu-Gi-Oh event run by Upper Deck. This day marks the end of an era. Four great years of Da-Planet running Upper Deck Premier Yu-Gi-Oh events.

Sixty-seven players have turned out for this historic final run, making for an amazing seven rounds of swiss in today's event. Following that, there will be a cut to the top sixteen, who will move on to play in the single-elimination playoff rounds.

Looking through the room today is like taking a trip down memory lane. There are faces from the past, some who have been away for quite some time. Faces like the first Hawaii Regional Champion ever, Kenneth Amor, or the near mythical Nolan Takahashi. At the same time, there are a number of players who signed up for their UDE numbers as recently as this week (some even just today!). Our last regional Champion, Andre Johnson Nutter-Peirce, is here as well, playing to further cement his spot in history. There are several players from across the seas, dedicated wayfarers from the neighboor islands, like the famous "little Albert," Albert Romero, who is not quite so little anymore.. And of course, there are the players that have been fixtures of the game throughout all the years of organized play, like Yu-Gi-Oh! mainstay Albert Lee. It is a sight to see, and a fitting testament to what has been a glorious run.
